Why shutters for doors?
Shutters are a great solution for both hinged and bi-folding patio doors. They bring you privacy without interrupting your precious view to the outside and will bring benefits to your home all year round. With various customisable design options we can tailor them to be the perfect partner for your patio doors.
- Sleek and stylish
- Barrier for pets, children & insects
- Shade in the summer
- Reduce heat loss in the winter
Shutters offer some unique functional benefits connecting the outside with inside, whilst looking amazing. You can leave your patio doors open without fear of children or pets roaming out. In-turn you greatly reduce flies and insects being able to enter your home.
All year round benefits
In the summer months the vast expanse of glass across your doors can increase the temperature of your home, making it uncomfortable. Shutters are great in uniquely controlling the levels of light entering your home without having to completely shut yourself off, helping to keep you cool but maintaining natural light. In the winter months you can lose up to 40% of your home’s heat through glass – shutters have been proven as one of the best insulating window coverings.

What are the best blinds for patio doors?
Doors can pose a real problem to dress with blinds and curtains. Blinds and curtains appear dated and tend to move in the wind, absorb cooking scents, be difficult to clean and seem to close the area off. You may have considered leaving them bare but this can appear cold and leave you feeling exposed when it is dark outside. White shutters are a modern alternative that are fitted into the recess and can make the room feel larger. With the option of rotating the louvres or completely folding back the panels, shutters provide many options depending on your needs throughout the day.
Door shutters designed for Bi-fold doors
Here at London Interior Shutters, we have many different options of how we can design shutters to meet your requirements. The most popular option for patio doors are tracked shutters. This option is particularly popular for bi-folding doors as the shutter panels can be folded to replicate the direction of opening of your doors. We can add a mid-rail divide to enable you to operate the top and bottom sets of louvres independently. On a track system, the shutters are always supported at the top and the bottom, making MDF a popular option.
Door shutters designed for French doors
For conventional French doors shutters, we have the option of either using a track system or not. This will depend on how you intend to fold open the shutters, the design of the door and any adjacent windows. It is common in this situation that we use hardwood shutters, either with or without having a bottom frame. Again, we can add a mid-rail divide to enable you to operate the top and bottom louvres separately.
Bedroom shutters are available in all materials, colours and louvre sizes.
