Why choose our Wooden Shutters?
Our wooden shutters are fully bespoke and crafted from premium hardwood. They are a strong, lightweight shutter making them ideal for larger windows and doors. Featuring innovative technology, our Wooden shutters are often marketed as Richmond or Fiji shutters, but we like to keep things simple.
Our Wooden shutters are:
- 100% Hardwood panels
- Made from sustainably sourced wood
- World-renowned shutters with innovated technology
- Finished with 6 layers of paint
- Crafted with LVL cores (Laminated veneer lumber)
- Kiln dried twice to the specific needs of the UK climate
Our wooden shutters are sourced from sustainable, deciduous trees and usually comprising of basswood. What sets a quality hardwood shutter apart is how it is made. As a natural product, it may have a tendency wrap or shrink over time. However, with over 30 years of product enhancements into our wooden shutters this is almost totally eliminated with LVL cores and specific kiln dried practices specific for the UK climate.
Suitability of wooden shutters for windows
Wooden shutters are suitable for almost any window and are available in any shutter style, with almost endless customisation options. They are also available in any colour enabling you to choose from 51 standard colours and stains. You also have the option of specifying your favourite Dulux, Farrow & Ball or Little Greene colours to make your wooden shutters the focal point of your home.
We always recommend wooden shutters for windows that are particularly tall or require more than two shutter panels bi-folding to one side. They are a popular choice for homeowners wanting a natural product, particularly if they have invested in wooden windows opposed to uPVC windows.

What quality should I expect?
Our wooden shutters are 100% natural wood, including the louvres. Our wood is stored for six months to allow it to settle before being kiln dried twice in a high-tech, computer-controlled drying facility before being crafted. The shutters are finished with a high-quality, proprietary paint system which has been developed specifically for finishing our shutters. We use a minimum of six coats of either paint or stain to ensure that our shutters are not susceptible to colour fading or discolouration.
