Making an appointment

How do I request an appointment?

Fill out your details on our contact form and we shall be in touch to arrange a suitable time and date. Alternatively, please contact us on 0800 023 5044.

What happens during an appointment?

A highly experienced member of our family team will visit. We answer any questions, survey your windows and suggest a provisional design. We bring samples and images of our extensive portfolio so you can touch, feel and see our shutters and workmanship. We leave an instant competitive quotation and there is never any pressure to commit. Appointments can last between 20 minutes to 1 hour depending on how many windows you have and how big they are.

Can I visit a showroom to see your shutters?

We currently do not have a showroom directly accessible to the public. We have a workshop which can be visited on an appointment basis. We provide full samples for viewing at every home design appointment and our portfolio can be seen.

Pricing

Can I get a quote online?

You may use our online quotation tool to get a quick quote. Here you will find how to measure your windows accurately and also upload images. We will then send you a price guide but cannot provide a fixed quote until we have measured your windows.  If you wish to proceed further or prefer us to measure up, we are happy to conduct a home design appointment.

How much do shutters cost?

Cost is mainly determined by the number of windows and their size. We offer some of the most competitive prices in the industry and can offer further discounts on larger orders. We are so confident in our low prices we have the London Interior Shutters Price Promise.

Can I fit my own shutters?

At London Interior Shutters we love to provide the full measuring, design, build and installation service to ensure complete perfection. We do offer savings for those wishing to install their own shutters, contact us to discuss your requirements.

Placing an order

Do you cover my area?

Based in South London, we carry out a lot of work locally and within neighbouring areas. We would love the opportunity to come out to every property to share the London Interior Shutters experience. You can check our general areas of operation, however we welcome every enquiry, so if you are outside of these locations please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Contact us.

How long is the lead time?

Our standard lead time is 10-12 weeks from the date of order. On average our installations are completed within 9 weeks from the date of order. We do offer an express delivery option, with a 4-6 week lead time, but please note that additional charges will apply. We communicate regularly with updates on the progress of all orders throughout the process.

What are the payment terms?

As our shutters are completely bespoke and made-to-measure we request a 50% deposit to place an order with us. The final balance is due on completion.

My property is undergoing a refurbishment, can I order shutters?

Most certainly, we are accustomed to working with many homeowners and developers at various stages of their development. Typically, to be able to template windows we ask that your windows are finished with window sills, architraves and plastering or tiles in place.

The shutters

Do shutters reduce the amount of natural light in the room?

With the right design, colour and louvre size, shutters will make your room feel larger and brighter. Light reflecting off louvres create an essence of space, especially when removing curtains.

What colours are your shutters available in?

We have 48 paints and stains in our range. Most customers opt for a shade of white to maximise light and to suit any decor. We also offer a custom colour match service for major paint brands, including Dulux Trade and Farrow & Ball. Simply supply us with the name, colour and RAL number and we will do our best to match your colour.

There is an additional charge of £150.00 per order for a custom colour match service.

Where can I find my warranty?

All of our shutters are guaranteed for 7 years. The warranty can be previewed here and a full copy is issued upon installation of your shutters.

Which is best – MDF shutters or hardwood?

A very good question and one we regularly address at London Interior Shutters. We offer both high quality MDF and hardwood shutters and generally, the best material for you will depend on the window size and shutter design. We can help you decide – here are some of the benefits of each:

MDF
Approximately 25% cheaper than hardwood, whilst almost identical in appearance.
Our MDF shutters offer the same levels of quality.
MDF is extremely hardwearing and is even ideal for children’s bedrooms or playrooms.

Hardwood
Available in a larger range of colour finishes and custom colour matching.
Suitable for larger windows and doors without the need for additional support.
Considerably lighter for smoother opening and closing of shutter panels.

What is the difference between plantation shutters and interior shutters?

Interior shutters, plantation shutters, shutter blinds and wooden shutters all refer to the same type of product.

Plantation shutters is a term originating from the USA. Shutters were initially extremely popular on large farms and plantations that typically grew coffee, tobacco, cotton or sugar, thereby inspiring the phrase plantation shutters.

Interior shutters is a term London Interior Shutters love to use as we think it describes them perfectly.

What standard of quality should I expect?

Passion for perfection is at the heart of what we do at London Interior Shutters. Our shutters are engineered to the highest possible standards and are built to last. Here are just some of the leading features of our shutters:

  • All joints are mortice-and-tenon, not pencil dowels. Mortice-and-tenon joints offer superior strength.
  • Our shutters are made with engineered cores, which add strength and eliminate warping, ensuring further strength.
  • A hidden tilt mechanism is completely concealed with an internal mechanism. No rear connecting rod or clear view rods, giving a better aesthetical appeal.
  • All joining panels are either rebated or finished with D moulds for a clean, simple look.
  • Our wood shutters are finished with a proprietary paint system which has been developed specifically for window shutters. We use 6 coats of either paint or stain, and to ensure that our shutters are less susceptible to fading and yellowing, the final layer is UV protected.

How do I clean shutters?

Shutters are one of the easiest window dressings to clean and keep dust free. Shutters easily wipe clean and only require a quick clean every so often. It is not recommended to use furniture polish or any type of cleaning product.

To clean, use a feather duster or dust cloth, dusting from top to bottom in a methodical fashion. When necessary, use a damp cloth followed by a dry cloth to remove any stubborn dirt. Following installation, we will provide a detailed handover demonstrating how to operate and clean your new shutters.

Can I have shutters in a bathroom?

Yes, our shutters can be installed into any room including bathrooms and other wet areas. For Bathrooms we recommend our waterproof range, made from the highest quality ABS plastic so it is fully waterproof. Best of all, our bathroom range has all the qualities of plastic but does not look like plastic. The finish is identical to MDF and hardwood shutters.
